Smash Receives 2 UK Adult Film Awards Noms
CHATSWORTH, Calif. Smash Pictures’ “Secretaries Day” and “Cheating Housewives 1,” distributed exclusively in the U.K. by Nice N Naughty Wholesale, have been nominated for Best Overseas Film by the 2007 UK Adult Film and TV Awards.
Nice N Naughty owner Simon Prescott told XBIZ that the second annual awards are more sought after than ever before and have become a well-respected measure of success in the U.K. adult industry.
“This is ongoing awareness and promotion of the Smash Pictures label in the U.K.,” Prescott said.
Prescott said that before an adult film can be sold in the U.K., it must be classified by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC). In order for it to be sold in department stores and other non-sex shops around the country, the film must be available in a softer cut rated “18.” The hardcore version of each film must be rated “R18″ before it can be sold in licensed sex shops.
Prescott said that both the “18″ and “R18″ versions of both Smash titles were accepted by the BBFC and nominated for awards.

Smash Tops UK VOD Chart With Secretary’s Day
CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Smash Pictures’ niche hit Secretary’s Day is a #1 hit in England according to the online chart for British VOD site Strictly Broadband.
“As the UK’s largest VOD site, our audience is largely British, and overall, British titles tend to outsell American ones,” Strictly Broadband rep Jerry told AVN. “However, we recently published Secretary’s Day from Smash, and it’s been sitting in our #1 slot for over a week now. This is a great title for sure, but we’re still not quite sure why it’s outselling everything else on our site! Regardless, this is great news for Smash, and we’ll be publishing more of their new titles to Strictly Broadband as they arrive.”
Smash Pictures sales VP Stuart Wall told AVN that he is thrilled with the news, noting that he takes a very careful approach to selling Smash titles on VOD.
“I’m always reluctant to sign VOD deals outside of the US,” said Wall. “It’s so hard to track, it turns into a trust issue. This is why I’ve narrowed our VOD deals down to just the top 6 based in the US. I’ve been approached with VOD deals from as far away as Sweden and Asia, and I’ve declined them all. Strictly Broadband is our only rep for all of Europe for VOD.”
Secretary’s Day caters to the office-sex fetish with a top-notch cast led by Lindsay Meadows.

“This movie contains a little of everything,” Wall said. “We wanted to branch out because MILF is doing so well for us. Each vignette plays on the MILF/cougar theme in different ways, a ‘cougar’ being an older woman who preys on younger men.”
Moore is currently finishing up production on his debut volume in the series. “It’s going really well,” he said. “We shot Amber Lynn in a really hot scene with James Deen, and I’m shooting an interracial scene with a really hot girl named Drunna and Rico Strong. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Smash Pictures Shoots Amber Lynn Comeback
CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Legendary adult film star Amber Lynn has returned to the blue screen. In the business for more than 20 years, Lynn recently shot her comeback scene for Smash Pictures’ “Mother Lode,” directed by Kevin Moore.
Lynn entered the business in 1983 and, along with superstars Ginger Lynn and Porsche Lynn, the trio became known as the “three Lynns” who were three of the most popular stars of the 1980s.
Since the height of her popularity, Lynn has made a few comeback movies, and Moore, working on his second Smash Pictures project, had the opportunity to capture her in a rare appearance.
“Shooting Amber was a special treat,” Moore told XBIZ. “I shot camera for directors that she worked with when she first got in the business so I think it gave me credibility with her. Her scene was fantastic and James Deen [her scene partner] brought the best out of her. We talked a lot about the past, told stories and I enjoyed working with her.”
“Mother Lode” was shot vignette-style with each scene having a different setup.

The Smash series, Cheating Housewives, has also picked up an award nomination at the ETO Awards show being held in Birmingham. “This will be my first visit to the UK, and I can’t wait to experience an award show over there,” said Wall. “The response to our Cheating Housewives series, as well as our other titles, has been terrific. It’s all about name branding. Doors are opening up worldwide for us now.”
