Follow-up to niche hit already surpassing sales of original release

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Smash Pictures has another hit on its hands with Secretary’s Day 2, directed by Kevin Moore.

Secretary’s Day 2 manages to surpass the award-winning original thanks to a top-notch cast, a killer box cover featuring Jenna Haze and the fetishistic eye of director Moore. The movie is already drawing rave reviews and has shot to #2 on the charts at Gamelink.com.

“I think it’s the best thing I’ve personally shot, ” Moore told AVN. “It’s a long movie, over three hours. There’s a lot going on in all the scenes, and I think the performers themselves really shined.”

Moore expertly cast the movie with some of the hottest girls in the business, including Haze, Rebeca Linares, Rachel Starr, Tori Black, Jenny Hendrix and Dakoda Brookes.

I like a little psychology in there to create a reason why people are fucking around. I like there to be a reason. Or you can watch it like a wall-to-wall movie by changing a setting on the DVD, and take out the story.”

Moore has directed over 30 movies since launching his directorial career five years ago. His work for Smash includes Clothes Freaks, Mother Lode and forthcoming installments of Killer Grip and Down Your Throat. He also directs for Hustler, Pulse Pictures, Doghouse Digital, Hellhouse Media and Evil Angel, working closely with John Leslie and Joey Silvera on their productions.

Among the standout scenes in Secretary’s Day 2 are Haze’s scene with Moore and Johnny Sins, in which the boss catches her screwing on the job and demands a blowjob. A threesome with Linares, Hendrix and porn icon Tom Byron features a terrific catfight sequence as a prelude to the scorching sex.

It’s just about finding that great shot and holding it and letting the guy at home just get off to it.”

Kevin Moore’s handjob movie set for April release

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Director Bishop has wrapped the fourth volume in Smash Pictures’ reality-porn series Blind Sex Date. The movie is scheduled for March release.

Blind Sex Date 4 features five vignettes with an emphasis on amateur talent. “Family Business” star Bishop hosts the scenes, which emulate the ‘Blind Date’ format complete with pop-up captions and real L.A. locations including Splash Hot Tubs, Hustler Hollywood, Tempo’s restaurant and La Finestra.

“It’s really important for me and for the series that it really look like the dating show and hold true to that show,” Bishop told AVN. “None of the couples have ever met before; we match them up, they ride in separate cars and the only direction given might be something to the effect of asking them to talk about past relationships, or the kinkiest place they’ve had sex, or their worst dating nightmare. In this particular show [Vol. 4], all of the guys are amateurs and only two of the girls are porn stars.”

According to Bishop and Smash sales VP Stuart Wall, crew from the original ‘Blind Date’ series joined the porn version when the mainstream TV show went off the air.

“The two shows really look identical, except our dates go all the way” Wall told AVN. “Our first three volumes in the series were so successful that Playboy picked up the cable rights; with all the fan letters and phone calls we’ve been getting, we had to produce a follow-up.” Bishop recruits talent for the series through flyers and classified ads. The Volume 4 casting call yielded applicants from L.A., San Diego, Las Vegas and the Bay area.

“They respond to an ad, saying they either want to try the adult industry or that they’re interested in going out on a blind sex date,” the director explained. “We bring them in and explain how the whole thing goes; they understand that it doesn�t have to go to sex. There’s an added incentive if it does go to sex, but they’re not under any obligation. They do what they can, and we’re happy to get what we get. I tried to push the guys to hold positions, years ago, but it doesn’t really work. Most of these guys don’t get laid; if they have any play, they’ll talk the girl into it. But if all the guy knows is doggie style, I don’t try to infiltrate what they do.”

Wall emphasized the entertainment value of amateur talent. “The series gives viewers the chance to see real civilians getting down and dirty; the sex is really raunchy, and at the same time, it has great couples appeal.”

CHATSWORTH, Calif. - Smash Pictures has secured U.K. distribution for six of its titles via an exclusive contract with Nice `n’ Naughty. The deal covers three volumes of “Cheating Housewives,” “Six In Me,” “Miss Strap On” and “Secretary’s Day.” The exclusive deal marks the first time Smash Pictures releases are available in the U.K.

Nice `n’ Naughty operates 11 retail stores across the U.K. and also serves as a licensed DVD distributor for a handful of U.S. studios and toy manufacturers.
“We consider the acquisition of six titles from Smash Pictures as a nice compliment to our gonzo catalog,” Naughty `n’ Nice Director of Sales Simon Prescott told XBIZ. “We picked up a handful of films initially to test the market and will consider purchasing more if they do well.”

According to Smash Pictures Vice President Stuart Wall, the deal was secured shortly after he met with Nice `n’ Naughty at the Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas.

“It was a pleasure meeting Simon, the director of sales for Nice `n’ Naughty,” Wall told XBIZ. “Since the U.K. was one region where we haven’t been placed yet, I was quite pleased that they chose our studio, since they represent very few U.S. studios. They approached us, saying they have the gonzo side of porn covered, yet our niche style of shooting made us stand out. Lately we’ve been focusing on more of the fetish appeal of porn; fans love to see a girl dressed up as a secretary or nanny as well as decking the girls out in sexy lingerie too.”

In England it is illegal to sell adult entertainment via the Internet or through mail order. Only licensed sex shops can sell hardcore films, which are classified as R18. Prescott said he must submit Smash Pictures’ master tapes to the British Board of Film Classification for approval before the DVDs can be sold in sex shops. He said the board is unlikely to make any cuts and that Nice `n’ Naughty also purchased the rights for softcore versions of four of Smash’s titles that can be sold in mainstream outlets.

Nice `n’ Naughty has won the Erotic Trade Only adult retailer award two years in a row at the Erotic Trade Show and is the only licensed adult bookstore to receive the Investors in People award issued by the U.K. government.
